Instead of giving you a list of technical terms to rummage through, I find it more helpful to answer some questions I’m always asked about the services. Obviously, if you have any questions yourself – please send a message here.
Do you do both design and development?
Yes. I offer both services. I can also take designs, if you have them, and develop a website. However, if those designs do not meet my standards for development for any reason – I might ask to revise them, so that the website can be formatted correctly. I prefer to handle the design portion though, so I can be assured the whole site will be of high quality.
I also offer other design services, like logo design, advertisement design, and other print services.
What is the process for creating a website?
First, we both must agree to a simple contract. This contract will explain, in detail, what is going to be built so everyone is on the same page.
After the contract is signed by both parties, I can start building the site. Click the button below to get a detailed rundown of what happens.
Will my site be mobile formatted for phones?
Absolutely. Currently, mobile formatting is a crucial for all websites, large or small. Your site will be responsive to all mobile devices.
How long does it take to create a site?
The length of time to create a site is always dependent on the size of the site. A basic site, with a couple pages and simple features can take upwards of 2-3 weeks from start to finish. Most sites will usually take between 1 and 2 months to create.
Remember, all of this is also dependent on you. I will most likely require information for the site (text for the pages), images, any any other personal assets you want to share.
Do we pay you for hosting our website?
Nope, not at all. To keep costs as low as possible I will recommend several hosts that are a good fit with the type of site you need. Then, I will help you purchase that plan. Once purchased, it’s totally yours – you do not have to deal with me on a monthly basis. This is good because after the site is final, you have total freedom to do whatever you want with it.
Do we pay you for updates and maintenance?
Yes and no. I will create your website so that you have total control of updating it. If for any reason, you do not want to update or maintain it, I can handle it for you. I usually charge hourly for any updates needed, after the website is final. This is usually great for people who are not tech-savvy or have enough time to worry about updating their site.
What platform do you use to build your sites?
I’m a big fan of WordPress and always recommend it to clients. The main reason I push WordPress is because it’s a very client friendly platform. If you have no technical knowledge, I can build you a site that you can update regularly with no effort. Also, it’s free to use, which is a huge bonus when trying to keep the cost of your site down.
I can also develop on other platforms, if needed. If you’re interested in something other than WordPress, just send a message and ask if I can support it.
Do you use commercial templates for your designs?
Not unless the client asks. All of my sites contain custom templates and designs that I build from scratch. This gives you comfort that your site is totally unique.
There are some occasions where a client might purchase a template and ask me to install or modify it. This is totally acceptable. However, it might take twice as long to modify a template, especially if that template isn’t easily customizable.
I hate writing content for my site, can you write it for me?
Absolutely. I work with some very talented copywriters that can help write your content, if you need it. They are also SEO trained, meaning the content will be optimized for search engines.
